193 HP? Active intake and exhaust? And near the price of a GSXR?

for a jumping off point.
I want one, even though I don't yet have the skills.
It's a beemer no way it's the same price as a gsxr, but I'd ride one...
It's $12,000. I didn't believe him either until I saw the price. I hate BMWs, but that one looks pretty intense for $12,000.
It's nice to see they selling a bike that's more form over flashy BMW logos and goofy shaped fairings.
Now that I've looked at a couple more pictures, I've gotta say I still like the looks of it in the blue, red and white paint, but when you look at it with a more solid paint scheme, you can tell it's pretty much a BMW with an R6 tail, side fairings from on 04ish cbr1000rr, and front fairing from an 09 cbr600rr mushed together with an aprilia.
I know most sportbikes look pretty similar to each other, but that one looks REALLY similar to a lot of other bikes. It's a shame considering how much some one got paid to design it.
This is the email I got from my local BMW dealer.
http://www.balderston.net/S1000RR.htm
It was rumoured that before the official launch they had one hidden away and were letting prospective buyers see it. My name wasnt on the list.
It's on my shortlist for next bike to buy. Problem is I really want a wing as well, my choices are keep my 954 and get a wing 2 years down the road when the wifes F4i is payed off, or sell the 954 and get a S1000R next year.
sell the 954 and get the 1000rr you wont be disappointed, trust me, I have seen one in action, granted it was being ridden by a proffessional racer at roebling, but the bike is a monster! and if you have any smoothness, it seems easy to manage too!

My local dealer said 3 of them showed up stateside. He had one for a week but only the sales manager rode it.
It looked boring and squidly at the same time. As opposed to just squidly which the CBR/GSXR/R1/ZX is.
Needless to say I will shoot the first M0th3r-Fu(ker that puts 300 rear tar, an "estended arm" on it, chromes it and "slamms" it ... I hope they have made it out of a material that reacts very very badly to any attempt to chrome it. Like make it form carbon fiber sprayed with aluminum in the paint. They start to chrome it and it should come loose and delaminate.
It should also have a wheel position sensor fitted in the back side of the motor that hits the rear wheel with a sonar for distance. Move the damn wheel any more than the 1 inch for chain adjustment, it should start misbehaving weirdly ... like make 12hp by running on 1 cyl in an 8 stroke firing sequence. That would be so fun.
Cool.
Buddha.

With the credit market the way it is right now I will probably not upgrade to the S1000, something about taking on another finance payment just doesn't sit well with me. The 954 is paid for the f4i has 24 months left on it. So I am taking a portion of what I would be paying for the s1000 and setting it aside every month. I should have about 6k for a down on a new goldwing. With the discount I get from my local Honda dealer I will be able to get into a wing for the same payment I have on the wifes f4i right now. Yeah I don't have traction control, variable mapping selection on the fly and all that jazz but 68 ft/lb tourque and 138 rwhp in a package that weighs the same and handles like the 600rr still has lots of grin factor. Plus we currently dont have a BMW dealer in Tulsa. The import dealer who carries BMW in OKC is kinda sketchy so I would wind up having to go to KC or Dallas for dealer service requirements
well, I can understand it from that point of view, but I still want the s1000rr to have my babies!!! lol

Well the problem with that one is that you're dealing with the one black sheep member of a family, who's singled out only because they skipped the fat/slow/ugly/awkward gene. Even if the S1000rr is attractive and well put together, they might still have that gene in them, and your babies could come out looking like these things.....
