Title: Another Speedo question
Post by: gregvhen on November 04, 2009, 05:42:00 PM
Do electronic speedos and tachs like the vapors and veypors work on older model bikes which are mechanicly driven tachs and speedo?

the veypor works on anything with wheels, it comes with a magnet and a sensor wire that detects each time the magnet passes it.

This is how it calculates your speed.

You can put the sensor on your swingarm and the magnet on your sprocket or wheel.

If you have a shaft drive bike you can even put the magnet on your driveshaft.

The tach gets its signal from either the stock electronic tach wire, one of the coil wires, or from a spark plug.

I have the veypor on my 02 GS (mechanical tach and speedo) and it works great.

Not sure about the vapor but I think it works the same way.

Thanks just what I wanted to know. How much did you pay for yours and where did you order it from?

I got it directly from veypors website.

they have 2 versions, the veypor and the VR2.

I believe they are priced at 149.00 and 199.00 respectively. (plus shipping)

I ended up getting mine for 125.00 shipping included thanks to a small group buy.

Ineedanap had one for sale for 80.00 but I think it is gone now.

There is a good thread somewhere on here comparing veypor vs vapor and has some pics of each.

I can only find VAPOR for offroad vehicles, no street models listed, does anyone know what model to buy? One model say fits General Conventional Forks another says fists most with universal forks.
