So I was fixing a oil pan leak today and found some metal flakes that look like copper inside. Should I be worried? It seems like it could be from some bearings.

Bearing pieces look like foil, like small pieces of tin foil. Copper bits may be alternator ... or something else you're misreadng as copper.
I'd not worry, cos if its bearing, nothing you can do, its gonna die unless you split it and rebuild. Cheaper to buy a motor usually so leave it be.
Cool.
Buddha.
GOLD!!!! The GS Struck GOLD !!! :icon_mrgreen:
Sucks...I duno what it would be? Stator? Alternator?
Wouldn't be the peelback foil lid from an oil bottle "accidentally" dropped in there from a previous owner or service guy, would it?

Looks more like phosphur bronze......from a bush..... in the gearbox or the starter idler gear.
My GS has 20,000 miles on it and it feels strong all the way thru the rpms, no weird noises. I baby it since I've owned it.
My brother spun a bearing in his race car a month ago and told me that's what his oil pan looked liked after.
Oh well I guess. We'll seewhat happens later.

Just saw my brother's oil pan from his race car. The flakes looked exactly like the ones in my pic, but his had more bigger pieces in it.
I'll ride her till she dies.
