Title: Nekkid now !
Post by: Affschnozel on November 12, 2009, 09:57:31 AM
I bought it like this:

That TCP fairing masks a nice GS underneath
First it was cool having a fully faired bike.....but then started hating the way they look and piece by piece they came off

Rode around like that and searched for GS single headlight until GF bought me one for Bday  :kiss3:

I just love it and the new headlight is way brighter and better  :thumb:

But....

......but the headlamp is deeper than original and hits ignition switch ,so I can't align it right:

I'm thinking of widening the hole which holds the light on both sides to give it more room ,
now it's tilting a little to the right >:(

I'd lengthen the mounting ears (or make mount-ear-extenders). I'm not quite sure what was going on with the stock GS headlight design anyway - somebody wanted that thing jammed just as hard as they could get it to the gauges. An extra inch or so would look fine and give more room for everything that fits in there. With your deeper back bucket (it doesn't look like the E back bucket, which is squashed flatter), you need the extra room. I doubt that filing the holes will give you enough.

What's up with the fork lowers changing colors (silver - black - sliver)?

 Long story short : first 2 accident free years ended with bent forks,
I got used ones and painted black(original paint was bad),after awhile color chipped off
so I got quality silver paint that matches GS frame and now they're back to silver   :icon_razz:

Just in time, I bet you could sell that full fairing to someone on here no problem and pay your girl back with a nice christmas present!

id jump all over it myself, I love the way that fairing looks, but I'm sure shipping from Isreal alone would be an arm and a leg

I'll try selling it locally, shipping costs across seas would be triple the cost of the plastic itself and it's not that good anyway,
the whole quality is cheap,it's full of little cracks and in need of paint, dual headlights are useless,I learned to hate this fairing
pretty quick

Lookin good, Aff :thumb:

I don't know about Israel, but here it wouldn't be too expensive to find some metal to make new headlight ear brackets that are long enough to fit.  Like DoD#i said, filing might not get you enough room.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that he doesn't celebrate Christmas in Israel :icon_mrgreen:  Just a guess, haha.

haha, I never even stopped to see where he was from after his first post, otherwise I would have realized the shipping costs would be too high before I mentioned it. So was I wrong in assuming that everyone on this board is from Pittsburgh??

Christmas is kind of celebrated here ,there are lots of christians and emigrants from europe such as myself who were influenced  in the
country of origin ,many don't associate it with religion of course but see it as a celebration of new civil year, also there is influence of American
culture

It's 50/50 here as it is. Religious people consider it a religious holiday, non religious people consider it a present giving holiday.

I wondered about that, thanks for the lesson   I got a buddy who was born in Azerbaijan, moved to Israel for a while, then to the states...I never thought to ask him about it.

Actually, there are also a lot of religious people here that consider Christmas a present giving holiday  :dunno_white:

Back on topic, now that I look at the pictures more, slotting all three holes in each plate might give you enough clearance to straighten it out.  I hadn't thought about the way you have it set up currently.  You could probably use washers to cover up the exposed slot on either side also.

Haha, sorry for complicating things   I just think it's funny that we had Christmas sale commercials before Halloween was even over :cookoo:
