Title: Clunking when releasing clutch on first gear?
Post by: Archangel1183 on November 13, 2009, 12:47:43 AM
Hey guys. Recently my bike has been making a clunk noise when I release them clutch from a stop. I'm pretty sure it's not the way I'm releasing the clutch because it didn't do it before.

The clutch isn't slipping and It doesn't need an adjustment.

I searched and only found that it may be that the chain is too loose.

I would check the chain, make sure it isn't loose and there are no tight spots.

My bike was making strange clunking sounds and I found out I was missing a roller on the chain.

I finally got around to adjusting the chain and lubricating it yesterday. It makes a huge difference. I don't hear the chain while driving anymore, and It doesn't clunk at take off anymore. It also felt a bit harsh when I would down shift or engine brake. Now it feels nice and smooth.

Thanks Dohabee.
