So, I'd like to do the exhaust/rejet/lunchbox mod on my '98 gs500e. Looks like the only real choices for exhaust right now are the V&H full, the Jardine full, the yoshimura slip-on, or some random slip-on off of ebay with the help of an exhaust shop. The random slip-on seems like the cheapest choice. Are there certain slip-ons from other bikes that fit well on the GS? What else would I need to fabricate in order to use some random slip-on? Also, is the V&H any good? It seems like a pretty good deal for a full exhaust system.
Hi.
Welcome.
You should try doing a search in the forum and wiki for exhaust questions. There are NO exhaust questions that haven't been answered at least a dozen times.
What I'd mainly like to know is fitting a slip-on exhaust from another bike, which I haven't found much of on the forums. Is it really as simple as just finding one that is a similar size and bringing it to an exhaust shop?
Will the yoshi TRS slip-on fit onto a 98 GS?
Trs yosh is 4 bolt end cap. will be very hard to fit.
I have for sale - http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=50810.0
This will fit with 2 seconds of welding @ muffler shop with the provided slipper on a 89-00 and 01+ no welding needed.
I also have that without the dent for $150.
I also have that in Titanium blue flame for 300.
Shipping extra and jet pack can be added for 22 for any year GS.
I am not sure what it was designed for, but the closeout shop I got it form seemed to think it was part of a full system that they lost the rest. I have had that blue Ti for 2-3 years as my personal stash. Typically modern bikes are bolt on. A bolt on for a GS needs a flange (a plate with a big center hole for the header and bolt holes to get the can on) way more complicated than you want to get into. I know, I have sold over 100 flanges here in 04-06 time frame.
This can or the others, easy. 2 min if its 01+ and 5 mins if its 89-00.

Screw V&H, the Civic fart-can special is what all the cool kids are doing these days.

That's right, buy it now for only $6!!! What a steal, I gave $8 for mine!!
My trs yosh was for an r6 and was held in with springs on that bike, mine is welded. no bolts of any kind, just rivits
Lopee - your can was meant as a slip on for R6 or you bought a can off a R6 full system. Cos usually stock headers dont have springs.
My sv had the TRS slip on cans that literally had not a whiff on them. I sold em on sv site for big $, then cored the stock cans and its making a nice racket now. Not as burbly as the TRS, but well, my goal is to go to a hand made 2->1 ... so the $ for the TRS was free ... whooo ... Then I scored some mandrel bent tubing ... but am not any further along in the header build process.
