I'm very pleased w/ my new GS500. I'm not kidding- it has many of the great qualities the Jawa has, simple, reliable only w/ modern-day brakes and lighting. Even the physical size is about the same. The only things missing are the built-in sidecar lugs- but that's another story.
Welcome to the GS club! Get ready to be berated for not posting a pic....

Jawa is still alive!! I hadn't heard of them for so long. Their site shows 350 in 4 models, slightly modernized, only the police edition is sold in EU, its probably been 40 years since any were sold in USA.
On GS500 yes it nice mix of basic machinery and nice styling and fun to ride.
Jawa 350 eh ... They introduced it in India 2 stroke twin with 1 carb a sorta watered down RD350 ...
Cool.

Sorta watered down?? You'd have to remove one carb
and cylinder off an RD to even come close to that slow. :icon_lol:
he has posted alot of pics as he just got his GS in the crate and posted pictures of the bike being uncrated.

Yes I agree. RD in India was already the watered down version BTW. Also a lot of high performance RD stuff came out of India cos there it was made till the late 90's if I recall.
The 350 Jawa was rebranded the Yezdi in india and was very short lived.
Cool.

Holy thread revival batman, but that's a nice modification.
Jawa...didn't even know they were still in business!
Jawa are still going and popular in eastern European countries. They never sold well in the west owing to the fact they are still an archaic design and we have all but banned 2-stokes. Still see a few on the show circuits and the combos have a bit of a following but they are expensive for what they are and people prefer to buy a used Japanese machine for similar money.
Wanna buy one? http://www.jawamotorcycles.co.uk/home.html
At one time they used to include a bigger front sprocket in the toolkit, the idea was you fitted it AFTERthe bike had run in :D :D :D

I dunno, is the GS500 not registrable in your country ?
The GS had a fantastic frame. You've put that in the jawa which had a 2 stroke to start with. The 350 twin 2 stroke out of the jawa going in the GS frame would have been a fun swap.
This seems to put the worst parts of the 2 into 1 ...
Cool.

A fun swap??
Less than 25hp, 6v electrics, premixed fuel, a power band the width of a pube, a 0-60 time that most tractors could beat and 70mph flat out?.........I don't think I could contain myself :D
These things are no RD/RZ :D :D :D
Yea I guess its an anaemic bugger. But still a GS frame is better than that frame.
Cool.
