Title: Intake/exhaust valve timing
Post by: laranjatomate on November 17, 2009, 10:32:02 AM
Good morning.

I am planning to convert my GS 500 to run on ethanol using electronic injection and ignition.
So, I am taking some measurements and looking for some place for build a double throttle body. This part is OK.

I am reading an Engineering book about intake and exhaust manifolds, and now I am worried on the most suitable length for the pipes of the throttle body I will order. Changing from the original arrangement which consists in two short pipes (carburettors) and a small plenum (the air filter box) for two slightly longer pipes with no plenum (each body end will be attached to a smaller sports air filter) may change the volumetric efficiency as a function of speed.

In order for calculating or even simulating that, in order for determine the better conditions, I need to know the time intake and exhaust valves open and close. How much degrees after top firing dead center.

Does somebody have these information?
Thanks for attention.
