Title: effect of excess watt drawn
Post by: manoj on November 23, 2009, 10:08:41 PM
I was trying out my heated gear, the engine was running smooth when i had just connected Gerbings gloves (it is rated 50 watt for both the gloves) rode for 30 miles but when I connected the Firstgear heated  jacket(65 watt) and headlight was in low beam .Engine became sort of rough ,I could feel the grinding, rattling of piston rings and was riding at indicated 6000rpm.Is this due to colder temperature of sparks generated by spark plug.Right now I don't have a thermostat ,so the heated gear operates at full blast.

Is there possibility of engine stalling if I did continue to draw the combined heated gear consumption of around 110watt.Does anyone know where I can find either coax /SAE cable compatible thermostat(the OEM ones are very pricey) for heated gear.

You could always just HTFU and ride around in a t-shirt  :dunno_white: There we go, issue solved.
