i was wondering if anyone knew if i could put a front fairing( like 04 or so) with the headlight on a 98 gs500e? Just the piece that goes around the headlight. Thanks!
Im sure it can be done, but it will require modification. the 98 gse has a headlight mounting bracket where the gsf has a front fairing mount. they are completely different brackets. my guess is cutting/welding is required. but dont quote me on this, im sure somone here has actually done it and could tell you how.
The gs500e headlight mounts to brackets that slide on the fork tubes. The GS500f fairing mount should bolt straight to the front of the frame. You would have to make a mount and have it welded to the front of the frame. The frame is steel so if you can weld it shouldn't be that difficult. You could also come up with some random mounts to just mount the fairing to your forks if you're only using that top part.
Try asking Seamax, he put a gsxr fairing on one of the older style gs500s that doesn't normally have a bracket mount, so clearly it can be done...

That's not a GSXR fairing, it's an aftermarket fairing by MMOTOS, which as far as I'm aware simply bolts onto the existing frame. Thread: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=42987.msg483054#msg483054 (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=42987.msg483054#msg483054)
However, the 'E' to 'F' conversion has been done by other members. For instance: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=40600.0 (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=40600.0)
