The other day I went for a ride. After riding for a 1/2 hour I noticed my bike was idling way high. 3000 rpm's high. I tried adjusting the idle scew but that didn't work. I checked the choke and it wasn't stuck shut.
Any idea's?
Check the throttle cable and see if its got any end play. If not... set it to where it has a little. The last option is that its lean. Open air screw 1/2 turn and try it then.

my bike has started doing this too. i don't know if it had anything to do with the accident in the parking lot or the cooler weather, but the bike ended up falling on it's right side and was still running til i got up and hit the kill switch. (i guess you can tell i haven't done any research on what running lean or rich entails) i've checked the throttle cable and the choke cable and generally they seem fine. the choke cable sometime moves a bit reving the bike, but that's usually when i was trying to move it around thinking it was the problem.
i figured out tonight that when i come to a stop and it's still idling at 3 to 4k rpm's, that if i slowly let out the clutch with the break on then it will pull and drop down to 2k and stay there. does this mean anything?
You're using your clutch to break your engine and creating unneeded ware. :nono:
Today also my engione started bogging hard when throttling. This is killing me.

you mean in general or for the purposes of trying to figure out how to bring the idle down?
Also, if all else fails, check the balance of your carbs. Carb balancing tools can be made for a few bucks. There have been previous posts on the topic.

Anytime you engage the cluth be it motorcycle or car ypu create friction. This friction, while slowing down your engine also creats wear on your clutch. Unfortunately your only wearing out the clutch instead of figuring out the problem.
Luckily the weather here is going to pot so I can try to figure out whats up with my bike. I'm leaning toward cold Temp affecting the mixture.
i'm still working on my problem too. if i get it sorted out i'll update the post. i'm going to try testing to see if the carbs are balanced next.
I had this same problem yesterday.
Coming to a red light after going 50 or so and the idle is at 3k rpms and sounds like I am planning on launching off the light.
Everyone around me is agitated by my blaring exhaust.
