Title: Jetting question for 2006 GS 500
Post by: rger8 on December 19, 2009, 07:55:43 PM
What are the stock jets sizes in my carbs? Pilot and Main? What is a "MID" jet?

Without messing with the neddle jet and adding washers my plan to get it to run a bit richer is to go:

#20 on the pilot
# 130 to 142 on the Main
and turn out Air screw 2.5 to 3 turns.

And # 60 on that "MID"jet wherever that is. I made my decisions based on the Beercan matrix chart.

Would this help a bit. I assume this thing is set really lean form the factory. Is there some kind of plug I have to pull out ot get to the air screw adjustment?

Thanks, New GS owner.

from the wiki  http://wiki.gstwins.com/index.php?n=Upgrades.Rejetting
2006 Stock Jets - 17.5 Pilots / 60 Mid Main / 130.0 Main

I have a 2005 GS500 with a lunchbox airfilter and jardine exhaust system and i have gone 20/65/145 and made no other adjustments at all and it runs perfectly.

For a stock bike, I would probably go 20/62.5/140

For a stock bike I might just do a 20 pilot**.

Mid is the starter jet, feeds fuel while the chock is on.

The main jet is adequate, or more than enough . (An air cooled engine needs more fuel to stay a bit cooler)

American models have a plug covering the mixture screw. Mine didn't, so I've got no pic to show you.
