I have just completed a full rebuild of my 1990 GS500E. I have a problem with the earth on the headlight. If I put the headlight in, the ignition lights come on but the bike wont turn over. If I take the headlight out and let it rest on the front forks, the bike will fire up nicely. I assume that I have an earth issue somewhere in the headlight area. I have rechecked all of the wiring connections against the wiring diagram and everything seems fine - I labelled all of the connections when I took them apart.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
Simon.
The headlight has earth? WTF
I'm thinking by earth you mean ground? if so... I'd think somewhere inside you've got a lose connection that is failing when your headlight goes in the bike and pushes stuff around. try wiggling all of the wires in the headlight assembly while the light is out to see if it doesnt work...then, find the problem there.

That's what we say in Oz... Earth. Earth = ground. C'mon An, get w/ the program... learn to speak Strine... :thumb:

Oddly, I find myself saying "No" when people end sentences with "know what I mean / know what I'm saying" just to see what their reaction is.
Hey Simon... got some pics for us of this bike of yours?
Michael
Toyota wiring diagrams use the term earth for ground and on the DLC connector the pin for ground is referred to as E1. As far as your problem, I am useless... ;)

I found it funny. But couldn't find what an Australian would find funny that would be missed elsewhere. But then again, I'm elsewhere and I have been know to miss the blindingly obvious at times....
annguyen1981 - no need for that!
mtbdude91 - I will have a play and see what happens.
Cheers.
