Title: Engine and Electrics problem.
Post by: REAP on December 30, 2009, 12:01:12 AM
I went for a ride last night and it was fine till i was on my way home, the whole bike just died, motor cut off and all electrics went out. I pulled over and checked the battery but it seems fine (4 month old battery), so i turned the ignition and it was fine till i took off, it just died again. Then it started flickering with the light dimming then getting brighter. I've got the tank off now and am looking at the wires but cant seem to find anything that would cause this.

Anyone have any ideas as what could be going wrong/how to fix?

Thanks in advance!

Is the main fuse ok?
Check alternator wires behind sprocket cover also.

Just worked it out, a green socket thingy up near the head of the frame had one loose connection. Had to open up some plug then force it in. I took it for a ride and all seems fine. Thanks for the help :)

Green 4 plug thingy ... AKA the ignition plug, bad connection = DOA bike. In fact SV's have a big problem with that connector chronically loose. Very important. Its like pulling the key off if it disconnects.
Cool.
