Building a formula car for my senior design. We need a modern working 600cc engine. If you or someone you know has one (within 150 miles of Jacksonville, FL) and is willing to donate it please let me know!
We'll even send you pics and updates as the build progresses plus you'll get a sticker to put on the car! COOL BEANS!
Feel free to post this to other motorcycle forums.

You mean free ? Not fee - and modern 600 motors on craigs list sell for the few 100's ... you could look into craigslist and see someone parting it out. I recently found a xs650 skeleton I got cheap (OK missing 90% including front and rear ends ...) but ...
Anyway Just a suggestion ... and sorry I only have GR motors all of which have been stuffed into GS'es so far.
Cool.

Not within 150 miles and I don't know what you mean by "modern" but I have an engine sitting around from that CBR 600 f1 taking up garage space. The plan was to stick it in a 4 wheeler frame but my buddy hasn't done anything with it yet. If you're interested I can press my buddy to see if he is really going to use it. But if by modern you mean fuel injected I think you will be hard pressed to find a free engine but I wish you luck anyway :thumb:

Hey Buddha- why don't you hook me up with one of those gr engines? My race bike might be able to catch some of the other bikes if I had some power on tap!
Are you on an FSAE team? I hope you aren't trying to do it for your senior design project alone...
Anway, you should look into corporate donors, i.e. a junkyard. There are plenty of salvage yards who might be willing to donate.

Dont beleive its much faster.
Torque yes, but redlines 8500. Though a 10k with gs heads should be possible. Anyway its torquey with a 2 stage flywheel ... so it revs quick past 4500.
Anyway people want stuff, no one wants to pay for it. Me too ...
Cool.

Yes Sir it is FSAE. I'm not doing it alone. I have about 15 volunteers. :woohoo:
Have you done it before? Do you have advice/tips?
Yea, I did Cornell FSAE 03-06.
What competition are you aiming for?
Get money, you need a solid business plan of what its going to cost to design, build, test a car. Then hit corporate and local businesses for sponsorship. Get your assets and re-asses your goals.
I actually have a couple of motors.... but free....
trade???
barter???
:technical:
Oh ... OK so you would give him 1 and give me 1 so you're balancing yourself out.
Yea ... :icon_mrgreen:
Cool.

Sure! Let me take that damn paperweight off you're chest! I'll drive up the and pick it up free of charge! It's for our university's graduating project!
PLUS! You'll be enriching the lives of young engineers! If you donate an engine to our race car I'll put your face on the front of the car. O0 :thumb:
OK you have to put my butt at the back of the car, and I'll trap some fart gas to add into the exhaust.
When you smoke the competetion, they will know it and smell it.
Cool.
Buddha.
but I am closer than Buddha.
I live in Gainesville......
But ... but ... but ... killbill you have to bring me that other motor ... that's what balances you ...
Cool.
Buddha.
what---do you want that Kaw 500 motor in the shed???
No ... buy kawi 500 - ex - vulcan - have a wiring harness ... or a Black box ... need both ... one guy said he'd hook me up ... and obviously I cant reach him for the last 3 weeks. Sheesh these are the people I call friends.
Of course as soon as his damn moped breaks down ... guess what ... I'm his best friend.
Comming to think of it, 2 weeks without the moped breaking is another record. Maybe its so cold he's not left the house ?
Cool.
Buddha.
now---Back on topic....
I have a Kaw EX500 motor, and a Katana 600 motor in my shed right now in Gainesville.
PM me.
