Title: Recycling calendars for the recession.
Post by: The Buddha on January 15, 2010, 11:28:23 AM
Oh this was a neat trick I have been using for years but someone told me they had never thought of it so here goes ...

Calendars can be reused, in fact if you had 2-3 you liked from past years here is how you can reuse them. Forever.

Jan 2010 is the same as May 2009 right down to the 31 days. Of course february = june 09 except 28 days.

Just cover the month with a post it or something, and cover the 29-30 for june too and use it for feb. Then find which month starts on the same day as march 10 and put it there.
Reuse the post its too.

Cool.

I keep forgetting to buy one when I go to the store.  Looks like I can put it off until February.

Not demotivators and Audubon ...

Of course my fave engine shop giving away bikini ones free ...

Sadly 7 yr old kiddo @ home dont need to see that just yet. Mommy is determined to keep him from chicks till he's 35. I plan to educate him in the geek style and that should make it permanent.

Cool.

Don't calendars repeat exactly like every seven years anyway?

Darn nerds...

7yrs, I dont think so ... 6 yrs maybe. However there are only 7 types of months ... months that start with sunday, monday, tuesday ... so on ... 30 vs 31 ... yea pencil it in ... 31 vs 30, 28 or 29, scratch it out.

I have the geek answer!  :icon_mrgreen:

There are 14 different calendars which repeat every 28 years, so if you save your old ones, before the time you're buddha's age you'll always have a correct calendar. (except the year, of course)

14 - I guess Jan 1 = mon, tue ... etc, that is 7.
Of course leap and non leap = 2.
So 14 ... and repeating 28 is correct as well.

Cool.

Actually it's a little more complicated than that.  It repeats every 28 years almost all the time, but not every time.  There are only 97 leap years every 400 years rather than 100.  This is done of course to keep the calendar synched with the Earth's position relative to the Sun.  Because of this, every 133.333 years we need to skip a leap year to keep the Earth and Sun happy.  Then in about 3,200 years those extra seconds will pile-up so something will have to be done to reconcile that but so far nothing has been decided.  This issue hasn't come-up yet because our Gregorian calendar has only been in use since the 1700's.

There, now I've completely geeked-out!  :cookoo:
