I need to replace my chain and front sprocket. I want to go down to a 15T in front, will I need a 109 link chain?
http://tsubaki.com.au/tsscs/chain_length.htm Told me I need 109, but just looking for another input source than a calculator.
No, and ain't no such animal without weird half-links, that are hard to come by. 110 or 108 are your practical choices. If 110 runs out of adjuster (it probably won't) you can chop off a link and have a 108.
Why? inside and outside links. You can't connect one inside and one outside link without the peculiar, expensive and hard to find hermaphoditic half-link. So think in even links.
Thanks. Stupid calculator.
I think that calculator is for industrial chain, for which half-links are readily available. And, no, you don't want a half-link on your motorcycle.
I've found that Tsubaki chain length calculator to be very handy. Just make a little adjustment to the center distance you've entered to get an even number of links.

Only about 5/32" increase in ctr distance for 15/39T over oem 16/39T centers.
