Title: Safe to buy Fork seals at eBay? silicone or natural rubber?
Post by: marc on March 31, 2010, 09:44:40 AM
My oldie GS'91 is leaking oil from a fork seal for the second time in its life.

Original seals last 10 years and 40.000Km
Replacement seals last 10 years more, and 40.000Km more.

Any chance for me to get seals that will last for 10 years more?

I've read that a seller says that their rubber are "natural rubber", that is far better than silicone....  :dunno_black: is this true?

Marc.

BTW: I promise a nice howto when I get them replaced.

When I ordered mine I got them from bike bandit, they weren't that much more and I ordered the clips and dust covers at the same time. Can't remember what brand they were but I know they weren't suzuki.

I always use OEM now.  I used to always use racetech.  I never had a single problem with either.  A couple suspension guys that know more than me told me I should always use the OEM ones, so that's what I do.  They're surprisingly cheap too.
