Title: wow, wildly varying rates at moto shops
Post by: nazgulnarsil on March 31, 2010, 11:59:38 AM
first place quoted $125 to mount a chain and tires, seems fairly in line with the amount of labor required.

thought I'd ask a second place just for the hell of it...

$270  :cookoo:

for that much money I could buy my own rivet tool/breaker kit, AND a tire press.

Local motorcycle shops quote 35 per tire mounted if theyre off the bike, double if theyre on the bike.

I paid the regular tire guy $5. Great living in a big city, lots of options.

I have found a local tire shop that will mount and balance motorcycle tires for $20 if it is off the bike.

I did it myself and It was a PITA so now I pay $20.

i support local dealer by bringing rim and he sells tire mounted. Not much above internet price.

I have a friend with a motorcycle tire changer from harbor freight.  I can change both tires manually in less time than it takes for my local dealer to change them using a machine.

not everyone has access to such things though, so the first quote dont sound too far outta line
