Title: Float Hight Adjustment Question
Post by: kevink on April 01, 2010, 07:23:44 PM
Hi everyone,

I'm trying to adjust the floats on my friends bike. It's a 01 or 02 GS500E. I have both the clymers as well as an electronic printout of the haines manual for the procedure. I am somewhat confused what reference points I am to use in measuring that the float height is in spec, and later for readjustment.

Am I supposed to measure the height from the forward most or rearmost edge where the float bowl attaches to the highest point of the float, or to the needle?

It seems to me that it is out of specification, from any given set of reference points that I currently select, but I want to know where exactly I am supposed to be measuring from for when I readjust it.

Thanks,
kevin

I think it's whatever the hight point is which should be near the middle of the float. If I remember correctly.
