Title: So....(another GS back on the road?)
Post by: theboy3443 on April 03, 2010, 07:48:17 PM
Having never messed with motorcycle carbs and normally only working on cars I was going to forfeit my mechanical prowess and send my carbs out for a clean and rejet.  With the site being down I got a little impatient and ordered a jet kit. When it came I figured screw it I'll give it a go.  Using the write ups and literature from this site everything worked out for the best!   Threw in some 145 mains and some washers up top, freed my float needles and adjusted the prong (one was bent because it was stuck: cause of my bogging issue).  I had some rust flakes in the fuel tank so I had to flush that out.  Surprisingly there wasn't much rust in the float bowls but I added an in-line fuel filter also.  3 turns out on the screws and she's breathing! I need to address some additional issues with the bike before I register it (fork seals, tach cable leak) but I'm well on my way. Thanks GStwiners for the writeups and info! if anyone has advice for me let me know. :)

Sweet!

My advice would be to get it legal and go RIDE IT!

I assume you have non-stock exhaust/intake since 145 would be big for stock I think.

Have you been able to tune the carbs and make sure your adjustments are good yet?

Actually I have a stock intake and stock pipe. I was planning on using aftermarket soon though. Seems to be running fine with the stock stuff right now though....  O0
