Title: F headlight on E model
Post by: mattress on April 04, 2010, 03:59:46 PM
Hello.. I have a 99 gs500e.  When I got my bike, one of the first things I changed was the big ugly circle headlight.

I did the dual headlight/angel eye mod ... i think it's in the wiki.

Anyway, spring has come, and I want to do a few quick mods before I start riding again.  Sealed battery, Bob's ignition advancer mod, and I'm getting tired of my headlights..

I remember seeing some pictures of a bike, where the owner put the "F" headlight (no fairings, etc), on a naked bike, and I thought it actually looked really good.  I think it was a black/grey, newer 2000+ model..

I can't for the life of me find any threads on this mod.  I need to know what all is involved in doing this before I buy the headlight.

Thanks for the help!

You just need to buy a set of brackets from dennis kirk or somewhere and the f headlight.  Youll have to find a good spot to connect the brackets on the plastic of the headlight.  I had this on my bike.  I rec the brackets with the rubber so you dont scratch your forks.  Also it will be difficult to adjust your headlight properly and it will wobble a bit (up and down) Get some washer for the turn signals to keep them in place.  Youll also have to bend the brackets to fit.

beautiful bike!  are you the original person to do this?  if so, do you have a link to that thread?

I think it's great.  Like I said, I did the $20~ dual headlight mod, and mine bounce around a little, so I don't think it will bother me.
