run the bike at around 5500-6000rpms for an extended period of time? i just got the 14t sprocket installed and on some of the highways I am at around 95-100 kph, and it runs between 5500 and 6000 revs. Just curious if this is hard on the engine or if it will be fine...minus the extra vibration while cruising at those speeds because of the higher revs.
Justin
It's fine. No harm at all.
Yep.. thats prety much crusing RPM even w/ a 15t
ok thank you i just wanted to double check just seems like a lot more vibration on those speeds compared to the stock 16t

it would be a really dumb thing for someone to design an engine that couldn't handle vibrations...
100kph at 5000
110kph at 5500
120kph at 6000
Roughly speaking - stock in 6th.
Yes the bike can handle those revs for extended periods of time.
But remember now, with a 14 tooth front, that sprocket will be turning more. So what you now experience at 100 you used to experience around 115kph - if my math is correct, which is close to your 5500 - 6000 question.
Michael
I used to always ride between 5-6000k rpm. I remember this because when I bought the bike it had a bad flat spot right there and it used to be obnoxious.
My bike us currently geared 14/47(-2+8), once I get it out for spring I'll let you know how that feels on the highway. Haha. Best I can remember from when we parked the bike the last time about 5 years ago, it was only topping out around 95mph with that gearing. I think I won't do much cruising unless it's closer to 40mph.

LOL, nice!

i realize that i just never have really ridden for about 40mins in that high of an rpm didnt know if the constant higher rpms would be bad for it or not...it was just an honest question.
