So I've gone through the past posts and can't find anything like what has happened to me. So, here is what's going on...
Driving down the road on my way to work, it was raining and the whole bike lost electrical power. I wasn't on the highway thankfully, so I pushed it to the nearest side street. I checked the Fuse, it was blown, replaced it, and nothing no power. No indicator lights, no headlight and the engine just turned off when the power went.
I will check the battery, but it has been well maintained over the winter and holding a steady charge. I drove in the last couple days without any problem, in fact the GS was running extremely well. I'm comfortable working on the bike, but in this case, I don't know where to start. Just at a glance, the electrical wires I checked seemed fine, nothing out of the ordinary.
Any help or suggestions would be really great at this moment. Has anyone had this problem, what was it in your case?

I would recommend picking up your service manual, and looking at the electrical schematic. Being my first bike as well, I couldn't tell you the exact troubleshooting steps, but I would usually work my way from the battery to the engine/ignition system.

The battery is holding a healthy charge, so it isn't that.
now to start taking things apart.
You did check & replace the actual working fuse (under the rubber cover) and not the spare (in the rubber cover), correct?
I checked the right fuse.
After a lot of messing around, I have a good feeling it was the heated grips on my bike. the whole electrical system seems fine, the most common areas where people have troubles seem to be fine. As soon as I disconnected the heated grips all was working fine. I ran the bike for a good 20 min to make sure it was all fine and no problems. I think the rain got in somewhere and caused a short.
