Title: Preasure under oil cap/dipstick- Bubbles
Post by: Clancy on April 06, 2010, 05:51:21 PM
Hi Guys

Checking my oil today after a short ride i noticed pressure under the oil cap/dipstick. It made a fizzing noise when i opened it. Also the oil had very fine bubbles in it.

Any one have this?

One other thing.
With the bike off i cab hear what i think is fuel still moving/flowing near the carbs. Only happens after a ride. Very quiet but sounds like fuel trying to pass thru a kinked hose. The bike runs fine. fuel consumption is good. I have a lunchbox, rejet and slip-on. hoses are routed fine and not kinked.

The bubbles and noise only last for about a minute.

Any thought would be much appreciated

I leave for a 900km trip tomorrow so am a a bit anxious about the old gs making it.

Cheers
Clancy

i would go with a plugged tank vent or partial plugged tank vent on the sound.  not sure on pressure building in the crank case i would say check crank case breather line not sure if the gs has a case breather i know theres a breather on the top of the valve cover.

Hmmmm. Where would i find this vent?

Bike seems to be running fine. Anything to worry about in he next 900km?

just checked my breather filter from the valve cover. replaced it with some shop towel and some zip ties, took her for a run. Low and behold.....
No pressure build up under the oil cap.

Blocked breather filter!

Fixed.

IIRC tank vents through key hole
