Title: My GS500F to GS500E Conversion
Post by: waqas on April 09, 2010, 01:11:46 PM
Hey, I'm new here but I wanted to post my project to see what people thought.  It's a yellow 2004 GS500F, or used to be anyway.

The new lights are Hella Optilux Angel Eyes.  I know others have used them..they're meant for like jeeps.  They're very cool.  I have them wired for LEDs only on both on low, and beams on both on high.  It's a cool effect to switch between them, especially starting up at night.

I think the naked/streetfighter look is sick and I'm really really happy with the bike, plus it's a different and fun feeling to ride with nothing out in front of you.

If anyone wants to buy the parts I took off, I have a post for that at http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=51536.0.

Thoughts?

I like it  :thumb:

I did the same thing going F to E. You should do the rear fender chop also.

When I started riding back in the 60' almost all bikes where "Naked" so it was the norm, so now for me I tend to lean towards faired  bikes, and also because I got sick of cleaning around the engine in my advanced state of Old Fartism   :whisper:

Your bike has the Street Fighter look and that's cool too!

looks really good actually. I prefer the full fairing look, but I like what you did with your bike.

why are the led rings so bright? I'm using hella optilux 2500 driving lights as foglights on my car and the rings are nowhere near that bright.

Bike looks great, I'm pretty fond of double headlights. A buell xbs flyscreen would clean up your front end a bit and hide those wires, but it looks good!

ZOMG it's naked!!!  Where you motivated just by the looks or did Mr Tarmac have a word?  Mr Tarmac suggested I go naked and I'm a fan, but today and it's headwind kinda made me wish I had a fairing to tuck behind...

Kyle, I can't speak to the relative brightness of the Optilux LEDs, as I've never seen any others out on the road, etc.  They probably just look brighter than yours cause of a longer exposure time on my camera for the picture, plus the bike being in a dark garage.  I didn't do any special wiring or put in a relay.

Pachman, I've never dropped the bike at speed.  I just liked the look better.

Thanks everyone.
