Title: Stalling
Post by: kenwa31 on April 14, 2010, 05:40:23 PM
So, had a head scratcher earlier today, 89 gs500 v&h pipe, k&n, dynojet kit.  I recently completely cleaned the carbs and adjusted the idle, took it for a quick ride, everything seems to be fine, roll off the throttle and it dies like i shut the key off, pull over and it idles ok but throttle doesn't seem as crisp, take off again same thing happens. Now the obivous answer is fuel starvation, but anyone have any thoughts as to where the problem might lie?

check your frame mounted petcock.  Set the position to PRI, and see if it keeps stalling out.  If the problem stops, then your petcock is malfunctioning, and either needs to be cleaned, replaced, or checked for leaks with the vacuum hoses.

same mods as you. problem happened to me. go to PRI on the petcock. also, unrelated, how many turns out are you on your air/fuel screws?
