Title: Sprocket and chain question
Post by: twelvepoint on April 17, 2010, 07:05:01 AM
I am replacing my sprockets and chain, which I've never done on a bike. I got a couple JT sprockets (stock sizes) and a DID o-ring 520V/110 chain. A quick question:

The front sprocket went on fine, but the rear sprocket has a very small (like 1/16") profile inside the teeth on one side only. The other sprocket face is totally flat. The side with a profile also has the info stamped on it. Which side is inner and which is outer. I assume the printing should face out.

The chain question is that I got a chain with a clip type master, and I want to rivet it. (I bought a rivet tool) Did I order the wrong type of chain, or can I just get a new master link and throw out the clip? I'm pretty sure I'm answering my own question here, but just wanted to make sure.

Thanks

-Chris

info should face out as far as i know and on the chain just order a rivet link and put it together youll be fine.  they prolly had both shains listed 1 rivet and one clip style no big deal

Ok, thanks and sorry for the stupid questions. I'm new to bikes and want to make sure everything's done right (and safe).

the only stupid question is the one that isnt asked unless its asked a million times and people doesnt search for the answer first....lol....enjoy your bike and have fun  after you get the chain on and ready to align it search the site theres a few good how-to on chain/wheel alignment. just make sure you dont make your chain to tight or to loose both are bad.
