I'm doing maintenance to my bike again this year, and primarly trying to protect areas from rust at the moment.
My front brake res is looking a bit worse for wear and I was wondering if there is anything I can paint it with, knowing full well that brake fluid eats paint for lunch?

The other question i've got is how to protect the bare metal of my handle bars. When i got the bike it was painted, badly mind you, black and was rusty. I removed all the rust but haven't protected it (hense the rust this year).

Whats a good finish for the bars, which will alow them to be mounted in the holders again?

A buddy provided this link (http://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=2311458#2311458) on applying it...seems like it would also work for what you're asking about.
You should be able to paint your brake resi with anything. Even though brake fluid definitely eats through paint, you really shouldn't be getting paint on the outside of it in any normal situations. If it's leaking you should definitely look into that.
