A question to all the S.M. / L.A. GS5 Riders,
Anyone been to the Santa Monica Mall parking structure? You know, the one by 3rd street. Where are motorcycles supposed to park? I haven't been riding very long and am still not really sure where to park where. I parked next to the last space at the end of an aisle on the white crossed lines section and I found a parking ticket from SMPD when I got back.
So where do bikes park?
most of the time i just park in regular parking spaces. and i park at an angle too so the cars see more of a profile of the bike so hopefully they'll see it before they plow into the space.
I never found any specific bike parking when I was last out there but there was one bike street parked so I shared his spot and through a buck in the meter. I wasn't there long.
I got same ticket. You have to park in same parkign spaces as cars. Nice when you can share with another motorcycle too.
I have also come to find out that they will ticket you parked on the side walk. At least I had one lady who just starting to write the ticket and said no bikes on sidewalks and let me go. She did nail the lady just sitting in the loading zone. Beverly Hills for yyou
Any pavement that is not sidewalk is fare game.
Century City is the worst with no street parking and a gaurd at every lot and the only place that is free is in the ally behind the courthouse. Everyplace else including the hospital is $3 for the first 15 minutes :x
Yeah. I just went to the century city mall yesterday. At least parking on a weekday is free for the first three hours. This time I took up a whole parking space for just my little bike. Felt like such a waste.
You're telling me that you got a parking ticket in a parking lot? Other than a handicapped ticket I have never heard of such a thing.
Yeppers. Santa Monica Police Traffic division goes into the parking lot and gives tickets. Maybe they get paid on commision or something. It sucks but oh well. Now I know...and knowing is half the battle.
If you are talking about Santa Monica Promenade, there is couple parking space designated for motorcycle/scooters inside of the parking structures. The space is usually located right after you got the parking permit and passed the gate. And ususally there are bikes there.
In my opinion, the location of these space is designed to allow riders to have access to the exit to the street without going through the parking fee booth. Yes, last time I checked, it is free for bikes to park in the designated space, without time restriction.
