Title: Cam adjuster oil leak
Post by: dubwise on April 20, 2010, 06:03:17 PM
94 GS500e, got oil leaking out of the cam adjuster plug behind the top of the engine.
There's oil all over the engine after a ride,
don't see it coming from anyplace else,
but it's hard to tell.
I replaced the rubber plug. No change.
Any thoughts?

I'm having trouble visualizing. Between the carbs and the engine? I don't remember there being a rubber plug.

Not that I could help much, but it might be helpful to post a pic.

Is cam chain Japlish for timing chain?

The plug is #12 on this fiche.

They call it the cam chain adjuster plug. It's the black bump in the middle of this shot.
Previous owner had covered it in silicone, which didn't stop it.
I replaced the plug, which also didn't stop it.

Maybe its the gasket part #11
or
something in the adjuster is broken
