Title: new bike
Post by: johnny ro on April 26, 2010, 06:05:53 PM
I have the 2004 GS almost about where I want it, setup wise, just bought next project. Ned to finish rebuilding seat on the GS and thats it.

New bike is a 2007 TW200 with 1300 miles, looks new, $2000. I was thinking of a new one but at $4200 you can buy a clean CBR1100XX for that much money. Or VFR. Maybe next summer on the Blackbird. So I went small for the woods and streets within 30 miles of house. Niece and Nephew have something to learn on now.

Will ride GS while I go over the TW and upgrade things. Jets first. They come with like 1.2 or 1.6 gal tank. Needs 4 gallons. They come with non-o-ring chain, that comes right off. Sprockets, bars, seat pad, rack, fat street tires. Real headlight. PRobably budget $500 all in?

I can say I wish Buddha (and others here) was interested in TWs. There is no one on the TW forum who can just shout out what to do to the carbs based on what mods you did. They sternly tell you to learn spark plug colors. I prefer the chart approach figured out by those smarter than me.

Two good GS rides this weekend, 300 miles around western Maine and white mountains. Almost no cars on the roads.
