Title: Bulb inside the guages
Post by: drduimstra on May 03, 2010, 08:56:27 AM
So I just realized that the right side of my guage is not working. I took it apart but I could not figure out how to get into the bulb inside the tachometer and my hands are too big to reach the bulbs used for the high beam signal and turn signal lights. I was wondering if anyone knows how to change the bulbs and what kind of bulbs does it use?

Grab the edge of the rubber boot with your finger tips and wiggle the boot/bulb back out.

For bulb types (regular and LED), search "gauge light" on this site. Below is one of many threads on this subject:

If you took the two nuts/washers/rubber dampers and tach cable off the bottom of the tach, and pulled the tach out of the cup.. there is a wiring leading in through a rubber grommet on the back of the tach... you can pull that out BY THE RUBBER not the wire!  The bulb is right in there.  I replaced the tach and speedo bulbs with blue painted bulbs from autzone.  I love how it looks. I might try green next time.  They were like ~$4 for a pair.  The speedo one is a little bit harder to get to unless you have a tiny screw driver to take that little trip meter handle off.
