Title: Hello.
Post by: welshrob on May 11, 2010, 11:52:18 PM
Hi, I`m from the Gold Coast in Australia, my partner has just passed her LAMS test and has bought a GS500 K5 2005 (naked) and I have joined to get some tech info. I used to ride a much older GS500E in the early 90`s when I was m/cycle courier in London, great little bike, I had forgotten how much fun they were. I`m not all that impressed with the brakes though, and I want to get some crash bungs so I`ll lurk in the background for a few weeks using the search function, see if anyone has performed a succesful master cylinder transplant from another model and to see if I can find a download for the basic owner`s handbook (not workshop manual) and some links to crash knobs.

Thank you for accepting me, looks like a friendly and helpful community.

:)

And yes, that is me in the avatar..

Heya Rob,

The Handbook you're after can be found in the Wiki http://wiki.gstwins.com/index.php?n=Maintenance.Books
If this link doesn't work well for you download it here http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/10/7/2133953/GS500-OwnerManual.pdf

I'm in Brissy. If'n you want to go for a ride some time, hit me up.

Michael

Thanks mate, very decent of you!

I`ve found a lot of brake stuff on here, not quite what I`m looking for yet, though.

the master cylinder for a suzuki katana is a direct swap, and as it was designed for a dual caliper setup, should push more fluid
