Title: Cracked instrument gauge cover, options?
Post by: CheetoPet on May 12, 2010, 11:56:49 AM
Took a low speed dive into some gravel last weekend & knocked my bike up a bit.  Good news is most of the damage was cosmetic & happened to parts I was contemplating upgrading anyway.  The one thing I'm uncertain about what to do with is the black plastic thing that covers the backs of the gauges.  Any other possibilities besides replacing it with the stock part?

I replaced mine with the stock one as it was inexpensive enough.  'Spose you could duct tape a plastic bag over them.

New or used?  Try as I might I was totally unable to find one on ebay.  Wasn't sure the exact phrase to search for tho.

I fiberglassed mine back together from the inside. can't even tell they were damaged in the first place. I couldn't find a good deal on a replacement, I didn't wanna pay $50 for a new one.

I've got one, if you want it.  Left side (speedo, I think) has a scratch/scrub mark about 3/4 inch wide or so.  Not cracked, and could be polished/sanded out if you're good with plastic.  I'm not.

Make me an offer.
