Title: GS wheels with fresh BT016's EVERYTHING IS SOLD!!!
Post by: Big Joe on May 19, 2010, 07:55:02 AM
EVERYTHING IS GONE.

Brand new BT016's mounted and balanced on white GS wheels. Wheels from the orange and black bike, seen on the bare frame in one pic. 300obo  Now willing to do 300 shipped. I dont want the tires to sit through winter.

I am getting out of road racing this year and moving to the dirt. Just a bit more economical for me right now. With that said all of the GS stuff has to go. I have a complete race bike that I have used for some track days, A complete bike that sitting for several years for parts -no title, and A frame and forks and wheel set with MN title.

The race bike I picked up a couple years back and have ridden a couple local track days with it. The only problem I have had with the bike is that the battery dies if stored connected. There is a dent in the frame near one of the foot pegs that I can take a pic of if you are interested.  $1000 obo Do not want to ship.  SOLD SOLD SOLD
(http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/1461/img0251ev.jpg)

The Parts bike was taken in by a shop owner and left. I bought it and the shop owner stated he had the bike running, but the motor would need some TLC. It is complete, but would need to gone through to make a runner. Throttle cable is stuck on it and some of the body pieces are removed, so it may be missing a few bolts. No title. $500 obo

The frame with forks and wheels is what all the parts that have been sold on here came off of.  It has a brand new set of BT016's on it that I was going to use for a track day. Will separate wheels, forks, and frame. Frame has a valid MN title.  $300 obo

Parts still available from the bike that is stripped down to frame. I still have the motor from this bike as well as many other odds and ends so let me know if your looking for something.

Still for sale

many others just ask.

Hey, I'm at work so unfortunately I can't see the pictures until I get home and use my own computer.

Since your motor is partly disabled are you willing to sell parts of it, or do you just want to sell the whole thing? I need one of the little oval covers with the 2 screws in it that's on the outside of the front sprocket cover on the left side of the engine, right under where the clutch cable screws into the engine. Let me know if you'd want to sell it and how much you'd want for it.

How much are you looking to get for the rearsets?
Title: Re: Parting 1992 GS500
Post by: Big Joe on May 19, 2010, 08:23:47 AM
I will pull the cases off the motor and try to sell the rest as a whole parts motor. I assumed the cases would be the first to go. Ill get back over to work on the bike in a few days and Ill check and see if I have it and that its in working condition.  I want to try to get around $150 for the rear sets, they look brand new no scuffs or anything.

Smeada might be interested in the tail section.  I had one similar on my bike back in 2002 and recently posted pictures and he asked about it.  I sent him a PM to point him to your thread as an FYI.

I just checked air-tech's website and it says the tail won't fit on 2001-2002 models. Does that mean it won't fit 2007 models either? Anyone know the answer??
Title: Re: Parting 1992 GS500

Just gave them a Call and they said it will not fit 2001 and up models.

Title: Re: Parting 1992 GS500
Post by: tt_four on May 19, 2010, 01:27:49 PM
Did they give you a reason it wouldn't fit? Gs's are pretty similar from 89-2010. Someone on here could probably tell you what is it that keeps it from fitting, and what you'd need to do to make it fit. I'd be really, really surprised if there wasn't a way to make it fit right without too much effort.

and big joe, incase my description was muddled, this is the piece I was asking about....

In your next to last picture with all the parts strewn across the floor, it's on the piece that's directly between the back of the tail and the engine.

Those rearsets look nice but I know I really don't need to spend good money on new foot pegs. Do they come with the brake and shift levers, or just the mounts and the actual pegs?

Post by: Big Joe on May 19, 2010, 07:21:08 PM
all PM's replied to. I have the bike strewn about my buddy's garage still,  had to have dinner and movie with the old lady. I'm going over and boxing everything up tomorrow night and ill tear into the motor in the following days. Busy with work this week, but should have things separated and sorted by this weekend.

As for the tail section. I have never look at a new one with out plastics. They do appears to be very similar and the piece seems fairly generic. On my race bike I have what appears to be an sv650 seat.

I know terrible Iphone pics...

Snap a pic of your tail section striped down. Maybe it will work?
Title: Re: Parting 1992 GS500
Post by: tt_four on May 19, 2010, 08:23:30 PM
oh wow, that's clever. I always wondered how much of a hassle it was to try to put your seat on, then fit that cowl over it, but having it all one piece with the latch on the bottom makes good sense. I'm still trying to figure out a good way to attach the one I have properly.

If you're answering PMs I guess I'll send you one about that little engine/clutch adjustment cover.
Title: Re: Parting 1992 GS500
Post by: Big Joe on May 20, 2010, 12:47:28 PM
Yeah, it works much better than trying to slip the tail section over the seat. I just shot some short screws through the tabs at the front of the tail section into the seat pan.  Just use a pad on the subframe and some zip ties to secure the rear of the tail section to bike.

Hey,

I cleaned up a bit and moved my crap out of my friends garage. I didnt have a chance to get to the motor. Should be this weekend

BaltimoreGS,
I pulled the bowls on the carbs and was able to rather easily turn the jets out.  Here are a few pics. like i said the one needle is crusty. Floats all seemed to be fine.
shoot me a pm if you want them

tt_four,
I have your piece. Let me know on it. Pay pal info at the top.

pandymai,

what would you think about just taking the rest of the motor as you saw in the pic? Basically missing covers and stator, possibly other little things.  As you can tell by me not working at my own place I am tight on space. Just need to get rid of this stuff.

The members would know better than me what something like this is worth? $75 plus shipping?

Ill try to keep the original post up to date as things sell.

I created a post for the rear sets and tail section separately. What do these normally go for?

I forget what size I went with when I picked that set up. I was running 140's for a while.  Ill check into it when I get home and let you know.  Pricing for the set with old rubber id say around $140 for a pair of wheel and the rubber is free. The rubber on these is quite dry.  With the other set with fresh rubber Id say $300 for the pair with tires. Rubber is about 110 per tire, so not a bad deal and they still have the stickers on them. Literally 0 miles on the rubber.  Let me know if your interested and Ill get them boxed up and on the scale to see what shipping will run.

Doh!  This might sound like an odd request, but is the negative battery lead available?  Acid from the battery corroded a connector that comes off the negative lead, after cutting out the corroded bit the wire is a bit short for my sealed battery setup.  I can take a picture if I'm not being clear enough.
