Title: steering stem
Post by: madhatter on October 22, 2003, 12:06:19 PM
:?  can anyone tell me if there are any steering stems from ohther bikes that are the same as the gs, gsxf ( katana 600 ) rgv, bandit ? asked do to project being built at present. I know gsxr fit with a few mods but they tend to be too much cash in uk.
Would be glad to hear of any info, thanks. :)   :thumb:

Yes, but they're harder to find than GS, Katana, or GSXR parts. And it's not much of an improvement if you're talking about a complete swap. Same rim, same single brake, just slightly thicker forks that are still undersprung with zero adjustment.

:)  400 bandit forks are too short and are a larger diameter gs is 37ml and bandit is 41 ml, but there are company's in uk that will extend them.
Japan market 400 ( grey import ) has twin disc's and better calipers, but need to see if stem size is same to do straight swap  :thumb:

on bandit 400 forum a while back I read of a fork swap from a gsxr (600?) to a b4, done in the US. the gsxr forks went in without any mods to the steering stem onto the b4 so I'm guessing the b4 and gs foks are different stems.

:) Sounds about right, have seen artical on 250 across ( baby katana / gsxf ) they have the same fork diameter and have the front brake on the other side, but the fork travel is shorter, maybe able to fit lower leg on gs stantion but not sure if they will swap also donot have acces to lower leg
