Title: Everstart ES10LA2 quick question ?
Post by: JEREMY JOCK on May 22, 2010, 02:46:16 PM
I'm at WalMart now. My battery finally shaZam! the bed.

Is this battery any good? I'm also looking at an 18watt 6v/12v battery maintainer/charger. Will this be enough for the initial charging of the battery?

Yes, that should work.  Vent hose may be on the other side.

The charger should work, too.

I just bought this battery last weekend and its a perfect fit.  I can't remember the stock location of the positive and negative terminals because I have my battery mounted backwards after having to change some things around for the tail swap but it dropped right in to my bike!

I followed the instructions for filling the battery. And it says it will take 2-5 hours to charge, using a 1.5A charger. I had it on the charger for a little more than 5 hours last night, but it still wasn't reading fully charged. I didn't want to leave it on overnight, so I unplugged everything and let it sit.

I figured it would take more than 5 hours for a full initial charge... But I'm just curious as to if I'm right, or if I should maybe return this battery for another?

It's back on the charger now, so I guess we'll see how it goes in a couple hours (hopefully sooner).

I didn't have a charger, so I just dropped mine in a couple hours after filling and it worked fine.  I'm sure thats bad for life expectancy but it was 30 dollars and not that big of a deal to replace in a year or two.

Wow! It's amazing what a new battery and new spark plugs can do.
