This thing sucks. Pretty, but sucks. File transfers are damn near impossible, without reverting to email or something.
Can,t keep it in a backpack. It'll accept Bluetooth headphones, but you can't control it without the Nike wristbands.

I wasn't very impressed with the iPad. My dad bought one and loves it, but he's pretty much technotarded and half blind so it kinda makes sense.
I think Apple needs to get their sh!t together. They're just slipping and Android is poised to put a serious hurt on the iPhone market with 2.2 Frozen Yogurt coming out. HTML5 and Flash support and the ability to run some processes at 450% of the iPhones capabilities is seriously impressive.

you're so right here. the iphone was the pivotal moment in handset tech. marketing anyway. the hardware was meh, but the software was wowowowwowoowwow !

android. don't let the " .1 " of an android update fool anyone, this is some serious improvement from google. i've installed 2.2 (froyo) on my nexus, and the thing really is 4-5 TIMES faster than before. pictures sync with picasa ON THE FLY, push email (ya, everyone does that now), and 20 applications running at once, with NO LAG.
i can't preach enough about android in it's current form. my buddys with iphones have their market, and millions of apps... but they're behind the curve on performance and hardware.
5mp camera, video recording at -almost- 720p, led flash with led camcording, speaker phone you can hear, excellent interface, beyond excellent capacative touch screen, the list goes on...
i'd really really like to see the iphone's multi-tasking in 4.0 push the standards much, much higher. i'm sure it will freaking ROCK since all apple products do. pricey ? yes. worth it ? yes. for now, android. free, open, wicked fast.
soooo, take a look at an INCREDIBLE or NEXUS, see if you like it. hell, even my old (3 years) g1 phones still ROCK with android. 3g, wifi, aGPS, and still plenty quick.

i understand the shortcomings of the ipad, but let's face it, if it were TOO good, it would detract sales of macbooks/imacs on the low end. the mini ? it would die.
smartphones are where it's at... this, i say, while typiing on my bluetooth keyboard, with the 5 year old powerbook wifi tethered to my NEXUS, in a cornucopia of wireless happiness.
also, i'm going to look at another cb this week. we'll see.... i'll update that OTHER thread. ;-)

about flash....
it sucks. on mobile devices anyway. i installed flash for all of 30 minutes, surfed on both 3g and wifi, and it was ok as far as loading pages on either.
what sucks about it ?
it's flash, and flash just plain SUCKS.
html5 may suck eventually. i dunno. i'd really really like to see more web pages tailored to mobile devices. very few ads, very feature simple, very, very fast.

i don't think you'll want to hold -any- phone while watching flash on pages for more than a few minutes... these little 1Ghz phones get HOT !!!
