Triangulate it, and you're fine.
You need some type of support. Just the bar under the seat by itself isn't enough.
You can come up from the center, with more of a bracket. But, then you need to relocate the battery.
Hardest part, really, is stuffing the electronics back in. Not bad, though. Depending on how you do it.
If you solder, you can eliminate the fat connectors. They hog space, and break half the time anyway.
Plus, if you make your own battery pack from a123 LiPo cells, it REALLY looks nice.
$25 for a 4-cell. 10 straight minutes of cranking time, if you've got LED's. About as big as two packs of cigarettes. 6 pounds, compared to 20.
Was gonna do it on mine, but I'm selling the entire bike.
We weren't sure how that was gonna work out, but he said it holds alright. I think he did brace it somehow, I don't remember how though. I'm pretty sure his build thread shows how. Not sure what pictures you saw, but he had a thread titled "project floating tail" or something like that. As long as you brace it somehow, and only have a solo seat you should be ok.
I braced it with 4 tie rods. 2 small tie rods helped support the remaning structure from the gas tank to 3/4 length of the remaing frame which ends about 2-3 inches after my seat.
The other 2 kart adjustable tie rods run from the top of my shock bolt to the frame around the middle of my seat. You will have to relocate the battery to do this. I relocated my battery to the cowl for easy charging and access.Re-ran and exttended all wires under the seat, tail and cowl area.
I did not weld anything. It was just triagulated with tie rods, nuts and bolts to the frame.
I was able to bear weight (135lb) on the frame after cutting it and before triangulating it but I would not recommend it. After hitting a few potholes with the braced frame I would think the structure would eventually give if not braced.

It's a Moriwaki 250 race tail from Sharskinz $190.00, I had to cut two slits in the seat area for it to slide over the frame rails.
Hey, where'd this bike come from?? Big project and we haven't even seen it.
Looks great. It also looks like you could brace that subframe even more if you wanted from the shape of the tail. There would be a little space to put in one smaller angled support there.

I started a build thread on here months ago, I'm just computer lazy and never updated it. Recently I got motivated to finish it and have made good progress.
The headlight came from a Honda Metropolitan ( not bright enough)

Katana rear wheel Gsxr frontend and wheel
Sharkskinz tailpiece
I copied the footpeg mounts and made them out of aluminum
I made new foot pegs and brake arm
I cut out the bottom of the fuel tank and mounted all the electrics there on a panel I made.
I'm working on the seat pan today, I have the seat foam shaped and I need to go buy a pneumatic stapler.

Ah, look at that, I do actually remember seeing that one, I even posted in it back in November, You should definitely update it for us though.
