Based on the large after market sector of motorcycles (and any auto) there seems to be a typical trend of creating custom parts that may or may not be popular. For those parts that spark the interest of many users the idea of how to manufacture those parts along with the costs come to play. I want to let everyone know that the company I work for is Tebis CAD/CAM. I do all of the 3D scanning which means I can take a physical object, scan it, bring it into our CAD/CAM software, reverse engineer the part, make a working model, simulate the part being cut with whatever material on any 2,3,5 axis machine, and develop the machine tool path for the machine to create it. If you have an idea on a project let me know. Tebis is located in Troy, Michigan and our corporate headquarters is in Germany. I administrate a Facebook page for Tebis which you can see a lot of videos including scanning/machining/reverse engineering.

Heck, I might even scan in the mounting areas of the GS500F in regards to developing different fairings. Since getting the bike I am itching to scan it into a 3D model :) Feel free to PM me if you want or respond in this thread.
