Nearly done with the 500 mile break-in.
Haven't tried adjusting the front, yet. Dialed the rear out to #3, I may bump it up another notch.
Right now, it's so tight I can feel the tread on the new tires between 30 and 50 mph. I like it that way.
The brakes are firm. Maybe 1/2 inch of lever travel until they fully grab. The rubber lines must be Trojan Ecstasies. Not gonna bother with SS braids.
The headlight is brighter than my little Scion's. Comparable to the GS's big round eyeball, but whiter. I think I like yellow light better.
I'll add two PIAA 1100X's later, to sweep the fields for Bambi.
I really like the height.
The handlebar was slightly less buzzy than the GS, before I got clip-ons. Same motor design - parallel twin, but fuel injected.
I filled the bar with steel BB's, now it's much better.
I have left-over BB's if anyone wants them. Preferably local.
The seat feels like a gel, but it's not. Put in 5 hours yesterday. :thumb: I'd say it's comfortable. :icon_mrgreen:
I don't use compression shorts or extra padding, and my @ss is bonier than a leftover turkey.

Stock muffler is nice and quiet, but it's very heavy. Around 19 lbs.
Had a Scorpion on the Ninja (same motor), sounded like a cross between Harley and Honda. It was $500, though.
An Arrow exhaust is $200, and sounds about the same.
But, it runs richer without a Power Commander or dyno tune.
I like fuel mileage better than impressing squids, so I'm staying stock. Low-slung boat anchor helps the COG, anyway.
Paint is "Candy Lime Green". And it IS candy.

it's hard to say. I would think they should, but they'll probably say it was from putting your helmet on there too rough. That's a pretty poor placement of the helmet hook. I with I had a helmet hook.

Nice, what kind of mileage are you getting and is the insurance more over the 500 besides it being brand spanking new bike!!
I estimate around 53 mpg, but I've been having too much fun to keep perfect records.
I'm switching to a 17t front sprocket sometime, anyway. And a smaller rear.
It's in the same insurance bracket as the GS. I have Progressive - $14/month for liability, collision, theft and vandalism. My only coverage gap is if I drop it.
I paid a one-time fee of about 80 bucks, because it's a new bike. If I had LoJack, it'd only be $40... what a rip-off....
No fee for transferring coverage from one to another.
Tags and title came up to $206.
The profit I made from selling the Ninja covered it all.

Weird.. the nuclear plant in NW Oregon (Trojan) you can fish in their ponds... you do need a decent excuse to get past the guard station.. "My dad works here" or something along those lines.. of course you have to have "your dads" name. But, the ponds and "park" (biking/walking paths, picnic tables, etc) and everything are open to the public and not more than a few hundred yards from all the functional buildings and cooling towers. I never remember seeing anyone with machine guns! :dunno_black: Maybe it's different these days.. after all that was 10 years ago.. Either way I'm sure you could get even closer with a boat on the Columbia river.

Those things are about 545 ft tall. Have you seen the rebar that goes in them? Over 2 inches thick, and they criss-cross 4 layers.
It's just a stupid convection tower, but I think they're cool.

The Trojan tower was only 499ft.. still a shame.. if nothing else it was cool to see it there. I guess it was decommissioned in '93.. which explains the lack of security. Only 13 years to complete the "deconstruction." Good job guys! As far as the red forest goes.. I suppose it would be neat to go see... I wonder if you need a hazmat suit?

aye i guarded at palo verde near phoenix. and you aint kiddin. almost as much training as some law enforcement, sometimes more. they dont play lol

Compared to the GS, it's more comfortable. The stock windshield looks tiny, but I get VERY little buffeting. I usually cruise at 80 mph, and the wind seems more like a steady pressure as opposed to being in a tornado.
There's power when you roll on the throttle, but it's very smooth. Worther's Original Candy smooth. I passed a semi the other day, and didn't realize I was doing 93 until I looked down.
There is more compression braking than the GS. Same parallel twin engine, but 4 valves per cylinder. But, not as bad as... say... a SuperHawk 996. I'm pretty fond of the engine braking, though.
Some guys don't like the stock seat, but I've found it to be pretty comfortable. I usually HATE stock seats, since I have such a bony @ss. I was on it 5 hours the other day, and wanted to keep going. The Kawi gel seat is big bucks, but lower. It's too cupped for me, though. I like to move around, instead of staying in one place.
The Butt Buffer guy lives right down the road from me, and there's a guy in Florida that'll mod it as well for about $75.
The mirrors are buzzy. Folks with wider shoulders get extensions for $30. I like them as they are.
The handlebars have the same buzz as the GS, due to the same engine. 7/8" ProTapers eliminate it, but I just poured BBs into the stocker. I'm installing handguards soon, and that helps too.
It's not BAD, it's just not PERFECT. 8)
The fuel injection is so F-ING NICE!!! I can't tell you how nice. Perfect starts, every time. Dependable, smooth idle, no stuttering. Digital gauge package, with a fuel level meter.
(I really love the fuel meter. No more math. No more guessing or white-knuckling to the next exit.)

Standing it up, I'm on the balls of my feet. It takes getting used to. The COG feels just the same as the GS, though. It's weird.
Kinda like a GS with a really high seat.
Changing the seat will drop about 1.5". Lowering link on the shock is good for another 1.5". Together, women around 5'6" are able to flat-foot it, usually.
I'm not a girl, though. :icon_twisted: And, I like hopping curbs and climbing stairs too much. :2guns:

Good to know, i'm also 5'8" with a 30" inseam (and 10lbs scrawnier). I seemed to be about the same when I sat on one; on the balls of my feet. I'm still not sure if I'd get used to it or drop it weekly.

I used to love riding in the rain. If you put on the right gear it's amazingly serene. It's like a rainy day when you just sit and look out the window, and this time the window is 3 inches from your face and you're on a motorcycle.
The last pair of Sidi boots I had were waterproof and they were the best piece of motorcycle apperal I had ever owned. I hate wet feet, but I was in the rain non stop and my feet never got the littlest bit wet. I'm just a joyrider now though so rain isn't much of an issue. I'm very curious to see how it is the first time I get stuck in the rain on the Buell. That little stubby tail is gonna have every bit of water shooting right up onto the back of my neck I'm sure, haha.
