I have a 2002 GS500 and am looking for a Clymer manual for it. I live in Victoria, BC so I am unable to purchase from Amazon.com to support this site. Sorry :( There is a shop in town that has a used 89-96 manual for $20.00 compared to the $48.00 it would cost me for a new one. Is there anything that this manual won't have for my 2002 bike. I notice that the new manuals are for 89-2002!
in 01 they changed to a 3jet setup in the carbs. so that's one difference you'll find. other than that.. not much else has changed.
Awsome, thanks!
You probably have an oil cooler as well, and the head is a bit different (electronic tach instead of mechanical for one)...well, there are probably a good number of differences. It depends on what you're looking for...anything in particular?
02 wasnt faired yet so the tach should still be mechanical?
not sure about the oil cooler though.. thought that came with the faired models only too.
Im not looking for anything in particular, just basic maintenance for a beginner. The cheapest I could find an 89-02 manual for was $40.00 on amazon.ca and if I can pay $20.00 for a used 89-96 one I would like to jump at the chance, as long as all the regular maintenance stuff is the same. Oh, and its a mechanical tach :)
there are online books (scanned versions?) for freee. if youre going the cheap route look into finding it. it's been posted within the past month or two?
nevermind. links i found were old. looking for new ones now.

found this one! should work
Oops, sorry about that. Nothing to see here, carry on
I don't know about clymer, but haynes makes an '04+ service manual.
Thanks for the help, when I went to the website with the scanned manual it crashed my old computer :( I ended up going and getting the 89-96 maual. After taking a look at it, I dont think I will have any issues using it for basic maintenace. At my level of experience (none) i will be taking it into a shop for anything more complicated.
