Title: dead battery
Post by: scrimsean on June 15, 2010, 12:19:19 PM
Went for a lengthy ride the Sunday bike ran fine no issues.  The next day went out to go to work and the battery (which is 2 months old) is dead. Voltmeter says 6 volts. Didn't turn key to accessory to run parking lights, shut down bike the day before as I normally would.  Haven't had any issue since installing the new battery. The fuses are good, everything seems normal besides it being dead.  Voltage is low enough that I don't even get any clicks from the starter solenoid.   Any ideas? Have yet to try charging it.  Just stumped, that it would die like that.

Do you have anything that is not stock on the bike that has been installed recently?  LED's, 12 volt adapter, etc?

No, nothing like that.  Everything is stock.

Since the battery is so new, I would assume there is a draw on the battery or your rectifier is going out.  Check for clean grounds, and tighten the battery terminals.  Throw it on a charger over night to full charge and see if she dies on you again.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
