A lot of wiggling. Try putting it in at an angle.
have a friend help put the bolts in while you hold the motor in the frame
With no alternator and rotor and tha twhole left side it is easier.
I also have donw fine wiht it on the floor on an old mattress.
But yes the bloody thing is a big PITA.

yeah, I agree with buddha. Remove the side covers and all related bits hanging off that you can. I was able to get the engine in without doing this but I'm assuming it would be easier without them in place. Also, remove the piece in the frame. Sit the engine on a jack and have a couple friends help guide and lift into location. You'll probably have to tilt and turn and wiggle to get it in. Use some pads/towels to protect the frame and engine from scraping paint.
Depending on how far the bike is torn apart, it might be easiest if you have just a bare frame. I'm thinking that if you sit the engine on some blocks and just have the frame you could slide the frame over the engine and into place then bolt it together. Then add the swing arm, front forks, etc.
Yeah.... unbolt anything you can break/bend off the the bike... Lay the engine on foam or something and lower the bike over on it's side... Left engine cover etc off makes it easier ( As Buddha said) to get in. Kind of angle- nudge it in to place and get the bolts in...
That's how I've done mine before... It helps having some there with you to help but it can be done solo.

no logic to it it just all of a sudden slides in.
Done this one too many times lately and don't bother removing anything. Put the engine on a floor jack on the right side of the bike where the frame rail is removed. Start with the front of the engine turned 90 degrees so it is facing the left frame rail of the bike. Slowly push the engine inside the frame of the bike. As the top of the engine gets inside the frame, slowly lift the engine up on the jack a little higher than the lower rear motor mount point (a friend or 2 helps this process). As the engine nears the left frame rail, rotate it 90 degrees so it is facing the correct way. Slowly lower the engine in between the 2 lower frame rail tabs and insert the threaded rod. Once the lower rod is in and the nuts attached loosely, pull back on the top of the engine and install the upper rear threaded rod and nuts. From their it's just a matter of attaching the removable frame rail and the other 2 mounts. Don't forget your spacers on the other mounts! Good luck :thumb:

BaltimoreGS and Ver4 helped put my engine in my frame this evening using the above directions. We didn't take anything off and the whole process took about five minutes. It took minimal effort (on their part, as I only raised and lowered the jack on command and that cannot be considered effort in the least). Thanks guys! :bowdown: I definitely recommend this method.
