Title: Clutch question...
Post by: Sbag0024 on June 18, 2010, 10:03:12 AM
When I am going to park the bike for the night I will shut it off in the driveway so I can go open the garage door and push it in. Now why is it that when I pull in the clutch lever and start pushing, it seems like the clutch is not disengaging all the way and is fairly hard to push like its still in gear and the clutch out? is this normal?

check list of what I do

turn the bike off while its in 1st gear
pull in clutch to move it but is hard to push unlike it being in neutral.

any ideas?

when parking you should leave it in neutral..

other than that, unless the clutch doesnt really work when riding either, i dont see why it would be more difficult to push.

Oh ok, I will have to start parking it in Neutral. I am not sure either, The clutch seems fine all the way up and down through the gears, just gives me some issues pushing it with the clutch in and it being in gear..  :icon_eek:. It also Jumps a little when I start the bike when its in first gear. I wonder if I need to adjust the clutch cable?

I always park in 1st gear so the bike cant roll off the stand. And the feeling your getting while trying to roll it in gear is normal, the clutch is a wet type. the clutch is bathed in oil and that oil is transferring a small amount of torque, giving you a dragging feeling.

Yeah, for your garage, you can leave it in neutral for parking. In the world, leave it in gear.

As for the small lurch forward when starting it in 1st after it's warm - like pulling up at a gas station, tanking up, getting back on and starting to leave... normal too.

Your bike appears to be acting normal. No problems. Happy riding.  :thumb:
