Title: Problems with Lights
Post by: bkhan on June 19, 2010, 04:31:42 AM
Hi folks,

I have a curious problem with the lights on my bike. I'll first put up the disclaimer that while I'm pretty mechanically inclined, I've never really had much experience with electrical systems.

While my bike's headlight works fine, it's every other light that seems to have a problem. My taillight is out and so are three out of four turn signals. My front-left turn signal turns on, but it won't blink. It just stays on. Some clarification, my rear-right turn signal was knocked off during a drop, but all lights continued to work. Then my turn signals started having problems and finally my taillight. I replaced one of the taillight bulbs once and it started to work again, but it's gone out again. I probably should have replaced both, but I hadn't done it at first and was expecting to get to it soon anyways when I replaced the missing turn signal.

I assume it can't be the bulb in the taillight since one is so new. I'm obviously going to pull it to check just in case, but I now have the replacement turn signals and I want to figure out what is preventing them from working properly. Does it sound like the switch has gone batty?

Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

Providing your bulbs are good the sockets they fit in are not rusty and your voltage is good ,you probably need to replace the indicator flasher unit.Flasher unit is located behind the right hand side panel with an orange wire and a blue,a universal 2pin flasher unit will be fine(third of the price of a suzuki one).Might be worth checking your regulater isn`t overloading.
