does anyone know what it would cost to put in my k&n jet kit and pod filter? i would like do it myself but im inexperienced and theres drilling involved. i dont want to hurt my bike. but anyway has anyone had it put in at a shop? and how much did it costs?
thanks
Don't do K&N, do Factory. No drilling req'd. I had mine put in at a dealership, but I had so many things done at that time that I don't remember how much it cost. It seems avg cost is somewhere between $80-100, but I could be wrong. About that inexperience, you don't gain it, nor confidence, by letting the dealer do it. The best thing you can do is buy a Clymer manual and do it yourself. :thumb: Save lots of money that way.
I wouldn't under any circumstances recommend drilling the GS's slides. Putting in new/different jets is a pretty straight forward operation.
I just installed the Dynojet (K&N) stage 3 kit with no trouble. I've never done a jet kit before, but I followed the instructions to a T and had no trouble. Bike even started first try when I put the carbs back on and is running beautifully with minimal adjustment.
The drilling is to remove the brass plugs on the air screws. Slides may need a hole closed off but that is done by a tap not a drill.
Cool.

The Dynojet kit actually does require you to drill the slides prior to tapping the holes.
