Making progress but the bike still won't idle but runs great above 2500 RPMs. It doesn't help if the choke is on or off. I've been told to check the idle circuit in the carbs? I will definitely do that but any other ideas?
Does adjusting the choke do anything? How long have you let it warm up before trying to brink it below 2500 RPM? I'm wondering if your choke is simply not working.
Not exactly sure if these guys have them or not, but I remember my old aircooled VW wouldn't idle properly- There was an electric solenoid in the carb that wasn't hooked up properly... Maybe something similar on these things?
Choke works well. I let it warm up for probably around 5 mins.
Sounds like a plugged pilot jet to me. Its the tiny one. They are he first ones to clog. I would start there.
I think you're original diagnosis of clogged idle jets is probably right. Might as well just give the carbs a good cleaning anyway.
I would just set the idle at 2600 rpm and call it a day :cookoo:
2500 ... you may have a vacuum leak.
You got the new jets installed by jared dont you ... you have the issue before that too ?
Cool.
Buddha.
I suggested a vacuum leak or something still in the ports in the carbs.Yeah new pilots, mains and washers under the needles....3 turns out on mixture screws and a cleaning...No bike- just the carbs on the bench so no test run here at my place ...
Go over everything again installation wise...double check all your lines (there are a lot of them compared to the older bikes..).
We'll figure out a way to get your bike here soon if you can't get it straight.
