I have a 2002 that is stock except it has a drilled exhaust, what are the sizes I need to jet the bike? I have also noticed on some other posts that there is another mid-range jet in 2001 and up? What size is that for? (random question) Has anyone ever wheelied a GS?
Drilling the exhaust doesn't do much more than increase the noise. Is your bike a Californian model (even though you live in Minnesota)? Is it a Canadian import? All have different jetting. Consensus here seems to be rejetting the stock post-'01 doesn't add much. You are best served by replacing the filter and the pipe then jetting to suit. I have an '01 (same carbs as the '02) and I have a Uni in the airbox and a less restrictive pipe. I have 127.5 mains, haven't touched the intermediate jets (I don't know what they are for either, and mine are 60s). I have the FactoryPro needles on the second notch (Itried raising the stock needles and it just never felt right), 22.5 pilots with the mixture screws out 2 1/2 turns. Hope this helps as a starting point. BTW this was done recently by conradvr- made up a chart on a recent post. It would be worth you looking for it.

YES its lots of fun
what else would you like to know???

how do you wheelie a gs? I figured its power/weight ratio wasn't good enough to wheelie.
you can pretty much wheelie anything with a clutch (thats rear wheel drive anyway). Rev to like 9k or something while your going 10-15mph, get back on the seat, and just let the clutch lever go. As soon as you let go you need to start adding more throttle or it the rev's will drop to much and no more wheelie for you! If you feel like your going to go over backwards (i doubt that will happen on your first try) either roll off the throttle a bit or tap the rear break. It will come down, and pretty fast!
That will make it come up but, depending on how far back on the seat you are, not very fast. Just get used to the instant burst of acceleration too, its very surpising. Of course, do this in an area where you: 1) wont hit anyone/anything and 2) where if you do end up hurting yourself you can get help. Dont do it on a road with cars all around you, its way to dangerous! :nono: Good luck!
